Bhīṣma emphasizes disciplined recollection and correct application of one’s empowered means (astra/mantra). Power is not merely possessed; it must be invoked with focused intent and used in accordance with a warrior’s duty, so that the means becomes effective and ‘stands ready’ to serve.
In the Udyoga Parva’s preparations for conflict, Bhīṣma instructs the addressed king/hero to remember a specific weapon and employ it with intensity. He assures him that, once properly invoked, the weapon will manifest readiness and assist him.
