śalya uvāca—rājan! tvam yathā vadasi tathā kariṣyāmi; api ca (tava hitāya) yat kiñcin mayā śakyaṃ bhaviṣyati tat sarvaṃ tava kariṣyāmi ||

tatas tvām āmantrya kaunteyaṃ śalyo madrādhipas tadā |
jagāma sabalaḥ śrīmān duryodhanam arindama ||
シャリヤは言った。「王よ、汝の言うとおりに、我はそのまま行おう。さらに汝の益となるために我にできることがあれば、そのすべてを汝のために成す。」 ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。こうしてマドラの主シャリヤは、クンティーの子に暇乞いし、軍勢を伴い栄光に輝きつつ出立して、敵を屈するドゥルヨーダナのもとへ赴いた。
वैशम्पायन उवाच
A promise of assistance is ethically framed as ‘for your welfare,’ yet the narrative warns that such pledges can be shaped by political pressures and shifting loyalties; intention (hita) and consequence (support in war) may diverge, making discernment in alliances a dharmic necessity.
Śalya assures the king that he will act as instructed and do whatever he can for his benefit. Then, after formally taking leave of Yudhiṣṭhira (Kaunteya), Śalya departs with his forces and goes to Duryodhana, signaling his movement toward the Kaurava side in the unfolding war preparations.
