ततः संदर्शने5तिष्ठ॑ं रामस्थातितपस्विन: । प्रगृह्ा शड्खप्रवरं तत: प्राधममुत्तमम्,तदनन्तर मैं अत्यन्त तपस्वी परशुरामजीकी दृष्टिके सामने खड़ा हुआ और अपने श्रेष्ठ शंखको हाथमें लेकर उसे जोर-जोरसे बजाने लगा
tataḥ sandarśane ’tiṣṭhaṃ rāmasthātitapaspinaḥ | pragṛhya śaṅkhapravaraṃ tataḥ prādhmam uttamam ||
それから私は、最上の苦行者であるラーマ(パラシュラーマ)の前に向き合って立った。自らの最良の法螺貝を取り上げ、力の限り吹き鳴らし—挑戦を受けたクシャトリヤのダルマに背くことなく、戦いに臨む決意と覚悟を公然と示した。
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights steadfastness in one’s svadharma: even before a revered ascetic-warrior like Paraśurāma, Bhīṣma signals unwavering commitment to the kṣatriya code—meeting a direct challenge with courage, clarity, and public resolve.
Bhīṣma positions himself directly before Paraśurāma and, taking his finest conch in hand, blows it loudly—an unmistakable martial signal that he is prepared to engage and will not retreat from the impending confrontation.
