Pāṇḍava-senā-niryāṇa and Vyūha-vibhāga (पाण्डवसेनानिर्याण तथा व्यूहविभाग)
श्रुतं वस्तस्पापस्य धार्तराष्ट्स्य भाषितम्,“बन्धुओ! आपलोगोंने उस पापी दुर्योधनकी बात सुनी है न? इसमें उसके द्वारा विशेषत: मेरी और भगवान् श्रीकृष्णकी निन््दा की गयी है। आपलोग हमारे हितकी कामना रखते हैं, इसलिये इस निन्दाको सुनकर कुपित हो उठे हैं
sañjaya uvāca — śrutaṃ vo ’stu pāpasya dhārtarāṣṭrasya bhāṣitam— “bandhavaḥ! āpālogone us pāpī duryodhanakī bāt sunī hai na? ismeṃ uske dvārā viśeṣataḥ merī aur bhagavān śrīkṛṣṇakī nindā kī gaī hai. āpālog hamāre hitkī kāmanā rakhte haiṃ, isliye is nindāko sunkar kupit ho uṭhe haiṃ.”
サञ्जयは語った。「親族の者たちよ。汝らは、あの罪深きドリタラーシュトラの子の言葉を聞いたであろう。彼はその中で、とりわけこの私と、主たるシュリー・クリシュナを罵り侮った。汝らは我らの益を願うがゆえに、この誹謗を聞いて憤りを燃やしたのだ。」
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical weight of speech: slander against the righteous (especially against Krishna and those aligned with dharma) is portrayed as a mark of moral decline, while anger arising from goodwill can be a form of righteous indignation when it defends truth and justice.
Sanjaya reports that Duryodhana has spoken offensively, specifically criticizing Sanjaya and Sri Krishna. Addressing his allies/kinsmen, he notes that those who wish them well have become angry upon hearing this disparagement.
