Educational Q&A

The verse praises purposeful, effective valor: a life is considered ‘well-lived’ when one acts with strength and resolve so as to overcome hostile forces and bring them to despair—an ethic aligned with kṣatriya ideals of courage and decisive action.

Sañjaya, narrating events to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, comments on the ideal of successful heroism and then turns to address Kṛṣṇa directly, noting that Kṛṣṇa’s great renown has rapidly spread throughout the world.
