Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how powerful emotion (especially righteous anger at injustice) and kṣatriya-dharma (the duty to protect order and honor) can align, producing unwavering resolve. It implicitly warns that when many champions become 'amarṣaṇa'—unable to tolerate dishonor—conflict becomes difficult to avert, making ethical restraint and timely reconciliation crucial.

Vaiśaṃpāyana enumerates prominent allies of the Pāṇḍavas—Bhīma, the twins Nakula and Sahadeva, Sātyaki, and Dhṛṣṭadyumna—describing their battle-readiness and temper. The listing functions as a narrative build-up, showing the concentration of martial strength and the rising intensity that precedes the outbreak of war.
