Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Dynastic Counsel on Legitimate Rule

tataḥ sarvāḥ prajāstā́ta dhṛtarāṣṭraṁ janeśvaram | anvapadyanta vidhivad yathā pāṇḍuṁ janādhipam ||

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights rajadharma and social ethics: when authority is established in a proper, rule-governed way (vidhivat), the people maintain stability by duly accepting and following the sovereign, as they did under the previous righteous ruler.

Vāyudeva states that after the relevant transition of power, all the subjects came to follow Dhṛtarāṣṭra as their ruler, in the same orderly manner in which they had earlier followed King Pāṇḍu.
