यह तेरे लिये दर्शनीय पराक्रम करके दिखानेका मुख्य समय प्राप्त हुआ है। ऐसे समयमें भी यदि तू अपने कर्तव्यका पालन नहीं करेगा और तुझसे जैसी सम्भावना थी

avidyā vai mahatī asti yām imāṁ saṁśritāḥ prajāḥ | tava syād yadi sadvṛttaṁ tena me tvaṁ priyo bhaveḥ ||

「いまこそ、見る者をして称賛せしめる武勇を示すべき肝要の時が来た。この時になお己の務めを果たさず、期待に反する性根をさらして—敵に対して断乎たる振る舞いをしないなら—お前の不名誉は四方に広がるだろう。サンジャヤよ、この機会に私が何も言わぬなら、私の愛情は『驢馬の愛』のごとく、力なく空しいものとなる。ゆえに、わが子よ、善人が非難し、愚か者だけが歩むその道を捨てよ。人々が寄りかかるものは、まことに大いなる無明である。お前の行いが徳ある者にふさわしいものとなる時にのみ、お前は私にとって愛しい存在となる。」
