सुखं नैवेह नामुत्र लभन्ते पुरुषाधमा: । बेटा! जो इस प्रकार विनयशून्य एवं अशिक्षित पौत्रसे हर्षको प्राप्त होता है तथा उद्योगरहित
sukhaṃ naiveha nāmutra labhante puruṣādhamāḥ |
最も卑しき者どもは、この世にも来世にも幸福を得ない。教えを受けず、謙虚さを欠き、怠け、無作法で愚かな子や孫を誇り喜ぶなら、その子孫は福ではなく禍となる。彼らはそもそも働かぬか、働いても非難される行いばかりをなすゆえ、そのような卑劣な者は此岸にも彼岸にも安楽を得ないのである。
पुत्र उवाच
Happiness depends on dharmic conduct and disciplined effort; those who are base in character—idle, untrained, and inclined to blameworthy actions—gain neither worldly welfare nor posthumous good.
A son speaks a moral judgment about the fate of ‘base men,’ emphasizing that taking satisfaction in uneducated, undisciplined descendants is self-defeating because such heirs do not perform worthy deeds and thus bring no benefit in this world or the next.
