स तीव्रगन्धसंतप्तो देवदूतमुवाच ह । गम्यतां तत्र येषां त्वं दूतस्तेषामुपान्तिकम्
sa tīvra-gandha-santapto deva-dūtam uvāca ha | gamyatāṃ tatra yeṣāṃ tvaṃ dūtas teṣām upāntikam |
耐えがたい悪臭に責められ、彼は天の使者に言った。「汝が使いとして仕える者たちのもとへ戻れ。私はあそこへは行かぬ。私はここに留まる――このことを汝の主たちに告げよ。私が近くにいることで、苦しむこれらの兄弟や縁者が、わずかながら慰めを得るのだから。」
