Gandhārī’s Confrontation and Consolation of Yudhiṣṭhira
rājaputrīṃ ca pāñcālīm ekavastrāṃ rajasvalām | bhavatyā viditaṃ sarvam uktavān yat sutas tava ||
The verse underscores moral accountability: the dishonoring of a vulnerable woman (Draupadī, described as ekavastrā and rajasvalā) is a grave ethical transgression, and those in power who know of such wrongdoing cannot claim innocence.
Vaiśampāyana recalls an episode involving Draupadī’s vulnerable condition and states that the addressed woman already knows all that her son had said about it—pointing to prior speech/behavior connected with Draupadī’s humiliation and its remembered consequences in the post-war lament of the Strī Parva.
