Yuddha-yajña-vyākhyāna (The Battle as Sacrifice): Ambarīṣa–Indra Saṃvāda
aśocyo hi hataḥ śūraḥ svargaloke mahīyate |

Do not grieve for a hero who dies in righteous battle; such a death is considered honorable and leads to exaltation in Svarga, aligning with the ethical ideal of steadfastness in one’s dharma.
In Śānti Parva’s discourse on dharma and conduct, Ambarīṣa states a kṣatriya-centered view of death in battle: the slain warrior is celebrated in heaven and thus should not be mourned.
