Educational Q&A

Public virtue is sustained by righteous governance: when the king provides real protection and order, people adhere to dharma, refrain from mutual violence, and cultivate mutual goodwill.

In the Shanti Parva’s discourse on rajadharma, Vasumanā states a principle of statecraft: the ruler’s protective duty is the condition that enables citizens to live ethically and peacefully with one another.
