कल्प्यां तेन तु ते प्राहुर्वृत्ति धर्मविदो जना: । द्विजातियोंमेंसे जिस किसीकी सेवा करनेके लिये कोई शूद्र आवे, उसीको उसकी जीविकाकी व्यवस्था करनी चाहिये; ऐसा धर्मज्ञ पुरुषोंका कथन है

Transliteration

kalpyāṁ tena tu te prāhur vṛttiṁ dharmavido janāḥ |

Translation

ビーシュマは言った。ダルマに通じた人々はこう宣言する—二度生まれ（dvija）に仕えるために来た者、ことにシュードラ（Śūdra）には、しかるべく生計の手立てを整えて与えるべきである。かくして奉仕は、責任ある扶養によって報いられ、社会的義務は倫理的な配慮と調和する。
