Rāma–Jāmadagnya-janma-kāraṇa and Kṣatra-kṣaya
Paraśurāma’s origins and the depletion/restoration of kṣatriya lineages

The verse frames catastrophic violence not as random, but as the karmic and dharmic consequence of sustained Kṣatriya excess: when rulers and warriors deviate from restraint and justice, a corrective force—here signaled through an ominous, radiant conception—arises to restore balance.
Vāyudeva states that Satyavatī conceives a formidable, radiant fetus whose destiny is to end (or greatly diminish) the Kṣatriyas. The description ‘fearsome to behold’ functions as an omen, indicating an extraordinary birth tied to large-scale upheaval.
