अणीयसामणीयांसं स्थविष्ठं च स्थवीयसाम्‌ | गरीयसां गरिष्ठं च श्रेष्ठ च श्रेयसामपि

Transliteration

aṇīyasām aṇīyāṁsaṁ sthaviṣṭhaṁ ca sthavīyasām | garīyasāṁ gariṣṭhaṁ ca śreṣṭhaṁ ca śreyasām api ||

Translation

ビーシュマは言った。「彼は最も微なるものよりなお微にして、また最も大なるものよりなお大である。最も重きものよりなお重く、しかも一切の優れたものの中にあって最勝である。」法と解脱の教えにおいて、至上者はあらゆる比較の尺度を超えるものとして説かれる——大きさ・重さ・位階といった常の分類を越え、求道者に、最小のうちにも内在し、最大の上にも主権を有する絶対者を敬うことを学ばせるのである。
