वद सर्व यथादृष्ट॑ प्रवृत्ति च यथाक्रमम् । जनमेजयने पूछा--मुने! वैकारिक पुरुष भगवान् पुरुषोत्तमको कैसे प्राप्त कर सकता है? यह सब आप अपने अनुभवके अनुसार बताइये और उसकी प्रवृत्तिका भी क्रमशः वर्णन कीजिये
vad sarva yathādṛṣṭaṁ pravṛttiṁ ca yathākramam | janamejayena pṛṣṭaḥ—mune! vaikārikaḥ puruṣaḥ bhagavān puruṣottamaṁ kathaṁ prāptuṁ śaknoti? etat sarvaṁ bhavān svānubhava-anusāreṇa vada, tasya pravṛtteś ca kramam api yathāvat varṇaya ||
ジャナメージャヤは言った。「あなたが見たとおりに、すべてを語り、修行の道筋を正しい順序で述べてください。おお聖仙よ、変化と世俗の変容に支配される者が、祝福された至上の人—プルショーत्तマ（Puruṣottama）、万有の最高者—にいかにして到達し得るのですか。あなた自身の証得に従って余すところなく説き、またそれを成就させる行いの次第を、段階を追って示してください。」
