Atithi-prāpti and the Brāhmaṇa’s Deliberation on Triadic Dharma (अतिथिप्राप्तिः धर्मत्रयविचारश्च)
asya caivātmajo rudro lalāṭād yoḥ samutthitaḥ | brahmānuśiṣṭo bhavitā sarvabhūtadharaḥ prabhuḥ ||
The verse emphasizes divinely sanctioned responsibility: Rudra’s power is not merely destructive but ordered by Brahmā toward sustaining and safeguarding all beings, aligning might with dharma and cosmic governance.
Vaiśampāyana describes Rudra’s origin—emerging from Brahmā’s forehead—and states that, under Brahmā’s instruction, Rudra is destined to act as a supreme supporter and protector of living beings.
