Nārada’s Darśana of Viśvarūpa Nārāyaṇa and the Caturmūrti Doctrine
When uncertainty arises about the proper dharma—whether to pursue active engagement (pravṛtti) or renunciant withdrawal (nivṛtti)—one should promptly approach a qualified authority. True guidance dispels doubt by clarifying the appropriate path for one’s situation and spiritual aim.
Śuka directs the listener to go immediately to a renowned knower of mokṣa-dharma—King Janaka of Videha—because Janaka is presented as capable of resolving the seeker’s confusion regarding the competing claims of action and renunciation.
