Shloka 13

शुकस्य योगसिद्धिः (Śuka’s Yogic Attainment and Ascent)

एवं भूतेषु भूतात्मा नित्यभूतो<च्रुवेषु च । कथं हि हृष्येज्जातेषु मृतेषु च कथं ज्वरेत्‌

evaṁ bhūteṣu bhūtātmā nityabhūto 'dhruveṣu ca | kathaṁ hi hṛṣyej jāteṣu mṛteṣu ca kathaṁ jvaret ||

ビーシュマは言った。「このように、すべての有身のものが滅びゆくなら、その内に宿る永遠の自己は、彼らが生まれるとき何ゆえ喜ぶべきであり、彼らが死ぬとき何ゆえ悲嘆に燃えるべきであろうか。世のありさまの不安定さと内なる自己の連続を見抜く賢者は、生と死から歓喜と憂いを起こさせない。」
