Impermanence, Svabhāva, and Śuka’s Resolve for Yoga

ततो<नुचिन्तयमहं भूयो देवीं सरस्वतीम्‌ । मनसा स च मे प्रश्नो दध्नो घृतमिवोद्धृतम्‌

tato'nucintayamaham bhūyo devīṃ sarasvatīm | manasā sa ca me praśno dadhno ghṛtam ivoddhṛtam ||

それから私は、心のうちに再び女神サラスヴァティーを念じて思惟した。すると、凝乳より酥(ギー)を汲み出すがごとく、その問いの答えが内より澄みわたり立ち現れた—観想の力と聖なる洞察の恩寵によって。

Educational Q&A

True understanding is not merely collected from outside; it is clarified through sustained contemplation and the refining power of wisdom (here invoked as Sarasvatī). As ghee is extracted from curd, insight is ‘drawn out’ from the mind when it is properly churned by reflection and guided by learning.

Yājñavalkya says that after again mentally invoking and contemplating Sarasvatī, the resolution of his inquiry emerged clearly. The verse uses a domestic, vivid metaphor—ghee arising from curd—to describe how an answer becomes manifest after inner churning and divine/intellectual inspiration.
