पुरुषप्रवर! जीवात्मा शुद्ध पुरुषका संग करके विशुद्ध धर्मवाला होता है। किसी ज्ञानी या बुद्धिमानका संग करनेसे बुद्धिमान्‌ होता है। किसी मुक्तसे मिलनेपर उसमें मुक्तके-से ही धर्म या लक्षण प्रकट होते हैं ।। वियोगधर्मिणा चैव विमुक्तात्मा भवत्यथ । विमोक्षिणा विमोक्षश्न समेत्येह तथा भवेत्‌

Puruṣapravara! jīvātmā śuddha-puruṣa-kā saṅgaṃ kṛtvā viśuddha-dharmavān bhavati. Kaścid jñāninā buddhi-matā vā saṅgena buddhi-mān bhavati. Muktena saha samāgamya tasmin mukta-sadṛśā eva dharmā lakṣaṇāni vā prādurbhavanti. Viyoga-dharmiṇā caiva vimuktātmā bhavaty atha; vimokṣiṇā vimokṣaś ca sametyeha tathā bhavet.

ヴァシシュタは言った。「人のうち最勝の者よ、個我は清浄なる人に随伴して清らかな行いを具える。賢者、あるいは識別にすぐれた者と交われば賢くなる。解脱者にまみえれば、解脱に相応する徳と徴が自らのうちに現れる。同様に、離欲を本性とする者に近づけば心は解き放たれ、解脱へ導く者と結べば、解脱そのものがここ、この生において成就する。」
