Śānti-parva Adhyāya 30: Nārada–Parvata Samaya-bhaṅga, Śāpa, and the Marriage of Sukumārī
।। तमुवाच ततो दृष्टवा पर्वतं नारदस्तथा
tam uvāca tato dṛṣṭvā parvataṃ nāradas tathā
そのときナーラダはパルヴァタを見るや、同じく彼に言葉をかけた。
श्रीकृष्ण उवाच
This line functions as a narrative hinge rather than a standalone maxim: it signals that an observation (the sight of a mountain) becomes the occasion for Nārada’s instruction, a common Mahābhārata method where ethical teaching is grounded in concrete scenes and examples.
After seeing a mountain, the sage Nārada speaks to the person addressed (“him”), indicating the continuation of a dialogue and the start of an explanation prompted by what has been seen.
