Chapter 29
विधवा यस्य विषये नानाथा: काश्चनाभवन् | सदैवासीत् पितृसमो रामो राज्यं यदन्वशात्,“उनके राज्यमें कोई भी स्त्री अनाथ-विधवा नहीं हुई। श्रीरामचन्द्रजीने जबतक राज्यका शासन किया, तबतक वे अपनी प्रजाके लिये सदा ही पिताके समान कृपालु बने रहे
vidhavā yasya viṣaye nānāthāḥ kāścanābhavan | sadaivāsīt pitṛsamo rāmo rājyaṃ yad anvaśāt |
その国では、いかなる女も支えを失った困窮の寡婦とはならなかった。ラーマが国を治めるかぎり、彼は民に対して常に父のごとく慈悲深く、絶えず守り育てた。
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse presents an ideal of righteous kingship (rājadharma): a ruler’s duty is protective, paternal care of the people, ensuring social security so that the vulnerable—here emphasized as widows—do not become helpless or unsupported.
Vāyudeva is describing the excellence of Rāma’s governance, stating that throughout Rāma’s reign no woman in his realm became an unprotected widow, because he ruled with constant, father-like compassion toward his subjects.
