भवानेवंविधो<स्माकं संशयं छेत्तुमरहति । अमूढश्चिरमूढानां लोकतत्त्वमजानताम्,“लोक-तत्त्वके ज्ञानसे शून्य और चिरकालसे अज्ञानमें पड़े हुए हम-जैसे लोगोंके संशयका निवारण सर्वगुणसम्पन्न आप-जैसा ज्ञानी महात्मा ही कर सकता है
bhavānevamvidho 'smākaṃ saṃśayaṃ chettum arhati | amūḍhaś ciramūḍhānāṃ lokatattvam ajānatām ||
ビーシュマは言った。「あなたのような賢者こそ、われらの疑いを断ち切るにふさわしい。われらは久しく迷妄に沈み、世の真の理を知らずにいた。迷いなき知者であるあなたのみが、われらのような者の不確かさを取り除けるのだ。」
भीष्म उवाच
True understanding (loka-tattva) dispels doubt; those who are clear-minded and knowledgeable are uniquely qualified to guide the long-ignorant, and humility is the proper stance of the seeker.
Bhishma addresses a revered interlocutor, acknowledging his own side’s long-standing ignorance and requesting that the wise person remove their uncertainty by explaining the truth of reality and right understanding.
