एतस्मात् कारणाच्छेय: कलिलं प्रतिभाति मे । ब्रवीतु भगवांस्तन्मे उपसन्नोडस्म्यधीहि भो:
etasmāt kāraṇāc chreyaḥ kalilaṁ pratibhāti me | bravītu bhagavāṁs tan me upasanno 'smy adhīhi bhoḥ ||
ビーシュマは言った。「このゆえにこそ、最善（śreyas）の真の姿が、疑いと混迷に覆われて私には見える。ゆえに、福徳具足の御方よ、その教えをどうか私に説き示したまえ。私はあなたに帰依して参った—尊き御方よ、弟子たる私を教え導き、最高の善へ至る道を悟らせてください。」
