रथस्थस्य हि शक्रस्य युद्धकाले महात्मन: । ऋषिभ: स्तूयमानस्य रूपमासीत् सुदुर्दूशम्
rathasthasya hi śakrasya yuddhakāle mahātmanaḥ | ṛṣibhiḥ stūyamānasya rūpam āsīt sudurdṛśam ||
ビーシュマは言った。「戦いの時、戦車に座し、聖仙たちの讃歌を受ける大いなる魂のインドラは、あまりにも赫々たる光輝と畏怖すべき威容を現し、ただその方へ目を向けることさえ、きわめて困難に思われた。」
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights the overwhelming nature of divine splendor in a dharmic context: when a righteous cosmic power is affirmed by the praise of seers, its presence becomes morally and spiritually awe-inducing—so intense that ordinary perception cannot easily endure it.
Bhishma describes Indra during battle: seated on his chariot, being hymned by rishis, Indra appears so brilliantly radiant that looking at him is extremely difficult.
