नारद-समङ्ग-संवादः — The Nārada–Samaṅga Dialogue on Fearlessness and Equanimity

कोई भी वस्तु क्यों न हो, जब उसके प्रति ममता कर ली जाती है--वह वस्तु अपनी मान ली जाती है, तब नष्ट होनेपर वही संतापका कारण बन जाती है ।।

na kāmān anuruddho ’to duḥkhaṁ kāmeṣu vai ratiḥ | prāptārtham upayuñjīta dharme kāmān visṛjayet ||

ビーシュマは教える。感官の対象にしがみつけば、悲しみは増すばかりである。快楽への執着そのものが苦の相なのだ。ゆえに、欲望と享楽を増やそうと頑なに追い求めてはならない。得た財や手段はダルマ(dharma)のために用い、放縦の欲楽はことごとく捨て去るべきである。
