आनन्द: कर्मणां सिद्धि: प्रतिपत्ति: परा गति: | सात््विकस्य निमित्तानि भावान् संश्रयते स्मृति:
Ānandaḥ karmaṇāṁ siddhiḥ pratipattiḥ parā gatiḥ | sāttvikasya nimittāni bhāvān saṁśrayate smṛtiḥ ||
アシタは言った。「アーナンダ(歓喜)、スカ(安楽)、行為の成就、正しく悟り知る力、そして最高の到達(至上の帰趣)—これらがサットヴァ的性向の支えである。サットヴァの人の記憶(smṛti)はこの四つの因に依り、ゆえに夢においても、覚醒時と同じく、歓喜などの状態を想起してそこに住する。」
असित उवाच
A sāttvika person’s inner life is anchored in four wholesome supports—joy, successful right action, clear understanding, and orientation toward the highest goal. Because memory follows one’s dominant disposition, the sāttvika mind naturally recollects and gravitates toward these uplifting states even in dreams.
In the didactic discourse of Śānti Parva, Asita explains markers of the sāttvika temperament. He describes how mental impressions and recollection (smṛti) align with sattva, shaping both waking conduct and dream-experience toward constructive, dharmic ends.
