Kapila and Syūmaraśmi on Renunciation, Householder Support, and Epistemic Authority
ततस्तानेव कवय: शास्त्रेषु प्रवदन्त्युत । कीर्त्यर्थमल्पहल्लेखा: पटव: कृत्स्ननिर्णया:
tatas tān eva kavayaḥ śāstreṣu pravadanty uta | kīrty-artham alpa-hal-lekhāḥ paṭavaḥ kṛtsna-nirṇayāḥ ||
ゆえに、賢き詩聖たちは諸シャーストラにおいて、まさに「無畏施（アバヤ・ダーナ）」を真に成し得る者こそ最上であると説く。されどその中には、心が外に向かい、胸の奥に刹那の欲楽への希求を秘める者もいる。彼らは名声と世の称賛のために、この無畏施の誓いを守るにすぎぬ。だが、真に巧みで洞察ある者は、円満なる至上ブラフマンを得んがためにこそ、この誓いに依りすがるのである。
