Kapila–Cow Dialogue: Authority of Householder and Renunciant Dharmas
इति ब्रुवाणं तमृषिं रक्षांस्युद्धृत्य सागरात् । अनब्रुवन् गच्छ पन्थानमास्थायेमं द्विजोत्तम
iti bruvāṇaṃ tam ṛṣiṃ rakṣāṃsy uddhṛtya sāgarāt | anabruvan gaccha panthānam āsthāyemaṃ dvijottama ||
ビーシュマは言った。仙人がそのように語っていると、羅刹たちは彼を海辺の水から引き上げて言った。「おお、二度生まれし者のうち最上の者よ。この道を取り、カーシーの都へ赴け。」
भीष्म उवाच
The verse suggests that dharmic outcomes can arise even in unexpected contexts: beings known for violence may still act with restraint and provide safe direction. It underscores that right conduct is defined by action in the moment, not merely by reputation or category.
An unnamed sage is speaking; the rākṣasas then lift him out from the sea and instruct him respectfully—addressing him as “dvijottama”—to take a particular route and go to Kāśī.
