The Exemplum of Cirakārī: Deliberation Before Irreversible Action

Having defined dharma, Bhīṣma urges Yudhiṣṭhira to keep his judgment free from anārjava—crookedness or deceit—because dharma is sustained by straightforward intention and honest conduct.
In the Śānti Parva’s instruction section, Bhīṣma continues his counsel to Yudhiṣṭhira after the war, summarizing a prior explanation of dharma’s defining mark and warning him not to adopt cunning or duplicity in governance or personal conduct.
