Educational Q&A

When an action is performed as an ordained cosmic duty (niyoga) rather than from personal malice, the agent is not stained by adharma; Death functions as a necessary regulator of the world-order.

Brahmā addresses the goddess Mṛtyu and commands her to ‘withdraw’ human beings (i.e., cause death), assuring her that no sin will attach to her and that he will remain favorably disposed toward her.
