कालेन कृष्णाश्न सिताश्न रात्र्य: कालेन चन्द्र: परिपूर्णबिम्ब: । नाकालत: पुष्पफल द्रुमाणां नाकालवेगा: सरितो वहन्ति
kālena kṛṣṇāś ca sitāś ca rātryaḥ kālena candraḥ paripūrṇa-bimbaḥ | nākālataḥ puṣpa-phala-drūmāṇāṃ nākāla-vegāḥ sarito vahanti ||
ヴィヤーサは言った。「時節に従って闇の夜と明るい夜が訪れ、時節に従って月は満ちて円満の姿となる。時ならぬとき、樹々は花も実も結ばず、河もまた本来の勢いで奔流とはならない。ゆえに、あらゆる結果は時と正しい機会から生ずる—人は焦らず、自然の秩序に逆らわず、忍耐と見極めをもって行うべきである。」
