सामर्थ्य शोचतो नास्तीत्यतो<हं नाद्य शोचिमि । जब शोक करनेवाले पुरुषका शोक उसके संकटको दूर नहीं हटा पाता है
sāmarthyaṃ śocato nāstīty ato 'haṃ nādya śocimi |
ビーシュマは言った。「嘆く者には力がない。ゆえに今日、私は嘆かぬ。悲しみは危難を取り除けず、かえって嘆きに沈む者の力を衰えさせるのなら、なぜ嘆く必要があろうか。そう思い定めて、私は憂いに屈しない。」
भीष्म उवाच
Grief does not solve the underlying problem and instead drains one’s strength; therefore one should cultivate steadiness and conserve inner power for right action.
