शक्र उवाच का त्वं बलेरपक्रान्ता रोचमाना शिखण्डिनी । अजानतो ममाचक्ष्व नामधेयं शुचिस्मिते,तब इन्द्रने पूछा--पवित्र मुसकानवाली सुन्दरी! बलिके शरीरसे निकलकर खड़ी हुई तुम कौन हो? तुम्हारी चमक-दमक अदभुत है। तुम्हारी वेणी भी अत्यन्त सुन्दर है। मैं तुम्हें जानता नहीं हूँ; इसलिये पूछता हूँ। तुम मुझे अपना नाम बताओ। सुशभ्रू! दैत्यराजको त्यागकर अपने तेजसे मुझे प्रकाशित करती हुई इस प्रकार तुम कौन खड़ी हो? मेरे प्रश्नके अनुसार अपना परिचय दो
śakra uvāca kā tvaṃ baler apakrāntā rocamānā śikhaṇḍinī | ajānato mamācakṣva nāmadheyaṃ śucismite ||
釈迦（インドラ）は言った。「誰だ、おまえは——バリを離れて——ここに立ち、みずからの光を放ち、麗しい髪をたたえている者は。わたしはおまえを知らぬ。ゆえに名を告げよ、清らかな微笑みの者よ。ダイティヤの主を捨て、その輝きでわたしを照らすおまえは、いったい誰なのだ。わたしの問いに答え、身の上を明かせ。」
