Even amid rivalry, a righteous settlement limits collateral suffering: authority is exercised through a binding promise that protects the world from excessive harm (the Sun’s unbearable midday heat).
Śakra (Indra) dismisses the Daitya leader with a blessing and grants him leave to go as he wishes, while also declaring a specific assurance about the Sun’s behavior—he will not scorch the worlds from the zenith—signaling a concluded pact or boon.
