Svapna–Manas–Guṇa–Brahma-vicāra
ततस्ते मधुपर्केण पूजां चक्कुरथो मयि । प्रतिगृह्म च तां पूजां प्रत्यनन्दमृषीनहम्,मेरे जानेपर उन महर्षियोंने मधुपर्क समर्पित करके मेरा आतिथ्य-सत्कार किया। मैंने भी उनका सत्कार ग्रहण करके उन सभी महर्षियोंका अभिनन्दन किया
tataste madhuparkeṇa pūjāṃ cakkuratho mayi | pratigṛhya ca tāṃ pūjāṃ pratyānandam ṛṣīn aham ||
ビーシュマは言った。「すると彼らはマドゥパルカ(madhuparka)を供えて私を敬い、迎えの儀礼を執り行った。私はそのもてなしを受け、返礼として諸リシに挨拶し、皆を喜ばせた。」
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights atithi-dharma (the ethics of hospitality) and reciprocity: worthy guests are to be honored with proper rites, and the guest should accept with humility and respond with respectful greetings, strengthening dharmic social bonds.
Bhishma recounts being received by a group of sages who offer him madhuparka and perform a formal welcome; he accepts their hospitality and then respectfully acknowledges and pleases them in return.
