गुणैर्यस्त्ववरैर्युक्त: कथं विद्यात्‌ परान्‌ गुणान्‌ । अनुमानाद्धि गन्तव्यं गुणैरवयवै: परम्‌

Transliteration

guṇair yas tv avarair yuktaḥ kathaṃ vidyāt parān guṇān | anumānād dhi gantavyaṃ guṇair avayavaiḥ param ||

Translation

ビーシュマは言った。「下劣な性質に結びつけられた者が、どうして高き性質を知り得ようか。至上は推知によって近づかれる。煙から火を推し量るように、至上ブラフマンの本性も、その顕れた属性と徴（しるし）によって一端がうかがわれる。」
