ब्राह्मण उवाच कृतः प्रयत्न: सुमहान् सर्वेषां संनिधाविह । सह तुल्यफलावावं गच्छावो यत्र नौ गति:
brāhmaṇa uvāca | kṛtaḥ prayatnaḥ sumahān sarveṣāṁ saṁnidhāv iha | saha tulyaphalāv āvāṁ gacchāvo yatra nau gatiḥ ||
婆羅門は言った。「王よ。ここにおいて万人の前で、私は我が苦行とジャパの果をあなたに捧げようと、きわめて大いなる努力を尽くした。だがあなたは、我らが共にその果を分かち合うべきだと強く望まれた。ゆえに、我ら二人は同じ功徳の等しい分け前を受ける者となろう。さあ—運命の許すかぎり、共に進もう。」
