अव्यक्त-मानस-सृष्टिवादः

Doctrine of Creation from the Unmanifest ‘Mānasa’

यदा संहरते कामान्‌ कूर्मोडज़ानीव सर्वश: । तदा>5>त्मज्योतिरात्मायमात्मन्येव प्रपश्यति,कछुआ जैसे अपने अड्ञोंकी सब ओरसे समेट लेता है, उसी प्रकार यह जीव जब अपनी सब कामनाओंका संकोच कर देता है तब यह अपने विशुद्ध अन्तःकरणमें ही स्वयं प्रकाशस्वरूप परमात्माका साक्षात्कार कर लेता है

yadā saṁharate kāmān kūrmo 'ṅgānīva sarvaśaḥ | tadā ātmajyotir ātmāyam ātmany eva prapaśyati ||

婆羅門は言った。「人が欲望をことごとく引き収めるとき—亀が四方から肢を引き入れるように—この自己は内なる澄明に安住し、自らの内において、純粋な光である真我を直観する。」

Desires and sense-impulses must be gathered back through restraint; when craving is withdrawn, the mind becomes clear and the self directly realizes the self-luminous Ātman within.

In the Śānti Parva’s instructional discourse, a Brāhmaṇa speaker uses the tortoise metaphor to explain the inward turn of discipline: withdrawing outward-running desires leads to inner vision and realization of the supreme Self.
