The Baka–Gautama Account
On Gratitude and Friendship Ethics
tadgarūpadhāriṇaṃ rudraṃ raudrakarmacikīrṣayā
The verse highlights Rudra’s deliberate agency: fierce action is not random rage but a purposeful act undertaken to restore or enforce cosmic and moral order when circumstances demand it.
Bhīṣma describes a moment where Rudra appears in a particular assumed form, explicitly characterized as preparing to carry out a formidable, wrathful deed—signaling an impending decisive intervention.
