इस प्रकार श्रीमह्या भारत शान्तिपवकि अन्तर्गत आपद्धर्मपर्वमें तपस्याकी प्रशंयाविषयक एक सौ इकसठवाँ अध्याय पूरा हुआ

iti prakāraḥ śrīmahābhārate śāntiparvaṇi antar-gate āpaddharmaparvaṇi tapasyā-praśaṃsā-viṣayakaḥ eka-śata-eka-ṣaṣṭitamaḥ adhyāyaḥ samāptaḥ

かくして『シュリー・マハーバーラタ』の「シャーンティ・パルヴァン」—とりわけ「アーパッドダルマ・パルヴァン」(Āpaddharma Parvan、非常時の法)において—苦行(tapas)を讃える第百六十一章は終結する。物語の枠組みはなおビーシュマの教誨であり、常の規範が逼迫する時にこそ自制の修練が倫理を支える力となることを示す一連の教えの完結を告げる。
