Apaddharma Determination: Dialogue of Viśvāmitra and the Śvapaca
'भैया! इस नेवलेसे मुझे बड़ा डर लग रहा है। इसलिये मैं तुम्हारे पीछे इस जालमें प्रवेश कर जाऊँगा, परंतु दादा! तुम मुझे मार न डालना, बचा लेना; क्योंकि जीवित रहनेपर ही मैं तुम्हारी रक्षा करनेमें समर्थ हूँ ।।
bhīṣma uvāca | ulūkāc caiva māṃ rakṣa kṣudraḥ prārthayate hi mām | ahaṃ chetsyāmi te pāśān sakhe satyena te śape ||
ビーシュマは言った。「兄弟よ！このマングースが恐ろしくてならぬ。ゆえに私はお前の後からこの網へ入ろう。だが長兄よ、私を殺さず—救ってくれ。生きてこそ、私はお前を守れるのだ。さらに梟からも守ってくれ。あの卑しい鳥はまさに我が命を狙っている。友よ、真理そのものにかけて誓う——お前の縛めを断ち切ってみせよう。」
