एवमुक्त्वा तु पलितस्तमर्थमुभयोहितम् । हेतुमद् ग्रहणीयं च कालापेक्षी न्यवेक्ष्य च
evam uktvā tu palitas tam artham ubhayohitam | hetumad grahaṇīyaṃ ca kālāpekṣī nyavekṣya ca ||
かく語り終えると、パリタは双方に益する事柄を、理にかなって受け入れるに足るものとして述べた。ついで好機と返答を待ちながら、猫のほうへ視線を向けた。
भीष्म उवाच
Counsel should be for mutual welfare, grounded in reason, and offered with sensitivity to the right time; even good advice gains force when delivered and received at an opportune moment.
Palita has finished presenting a balanced, rational, and acceptable argument meant to benefit both parties; he then pauses, watching the cat, anticipating the response and the proper moment for the next exchange.
