अपश्यदपरं घोरमात्मन: शत्रुमागतम् | शरप्रसूनसड्काशं महीविवरशायिनम्
apaśyad aparaṁ ghoraṁ ātmanaḥ śatrum āgatam | śaraprasūna-saṅkāśaṁ mahī-vivara-śāyinam ||
ビーシュマは語った。「すると彼は、さらに別の恐るべき敵が近づくのを見た—シャラ葦（śara）の花のように暗褐色で、地に穴を掘ってその中に身を潜めて横たわる者である。この場面は、危難が次々と姿を変えて現れうること、そして表層の下に隠れる脅威に対しては警戒と見極めが要ることを示している。」
