Apaddharma Determination: Dialogue of Viśvāmitra and the Śvapaca

Mārjāri vrīḍito bhūtvā mūṣikaṁ vākyam abravīt.

Educational Q&A

A sharp, truthful reprimand can restrain misconduct and induce shame, but ethical discernment is still required: outward humility after being caught does not automatically prove inner reform.

After receiving a clear and harsh rebuke, the cat feels ashamed and then speaks again to the mouse, continuing the dialogue that serves as a moral illustration within Bhishma’s instruction.
