The verse highlights the sanctity of places where Vedic recitation and ascetic presence endure. It implies that dharma is sustained not only by royal power or debate but by living traditions of study, chanting, and disciplined practice rooted in sacred spaces.
Bhīṣma is describing a revered sacred region: the beautiful Badarī, a heavenly lake, and the sage Aśvaśiras who continually recites the eternal Vedas. The description functions as part of a broader discourse on holy places and the spiritual resources that support righteous living.
