मयूरवद्राजधर्मः (Mayūra-vat Rāja-dharma) — The Peacock-Model of Protective Kingship
यस्तु सिंह: श्वभि: कीर्ण: सिंहकर्मफले रत: । नस सिंहफल भोक्तुं शक्त: श्वभिरुपासित:
yastu siṁhaḥ śvabhiḥ kīrṇaḥ siṁha-karma-phale rataḥ | na sa siṁha-phalaṁ bhoktuṁ śaktāḥ śvabhir upāsitaḥ ||
ビーシュマは言った。「たとえ獅子であっても、犬どもに取り囲まれ、獅子にふさわしい行いとその果に心を寄せていても、『獅子の取り分』を真に味わうことはできぬ。犬に仕えられ、押し塞がれるがゆえに、正当な果は妨げられ、損なわれるからである。」
