शरभो5प्यतिसंदृष्टो नित्य॑ प्राणिवधे रत:

Transliteration

śarabho 'py atisaṃdṛṣṭo nityaṃ prāṇivadhē rataḥ

Translation

ビーシュマは語った。「シャラバでさえ、きわめて凶暴で、常に生きものを殺すことを好むと見られる。」シャーンティの教えの倫理的枠組みにおいて、この一句は、暴力へ傾きやすい性向が現実にあることを示す。ゆえにダルマは、出生や力に任せて自然に生じるものと見なすのではなく、意識して修め、育てねばならない。
